3 Ways to Convince Your Parents to Let You Get a Cell Phone
A Useful Guide for Teens Who Want to Be Allowed to Get a Cell Phone
Some parents do not allow their teenagers to get cell phones because they will have to foot the bill for this device. Parents are not enthusiastic about having to pay high cell phone bills for their teenage children to spend hours talking to friends about menial topics. One of the best ways to convince your parents to let you get a cell phone is by offering to pay for it. If you have a part-time job, it will let parents know that there is a source of income that will provide payment for the cell phone and ongoing bills. Paying for your own cell phone will also show parents that you can be responsible.
This will definitely come in handy if you need assistance for bigger expenses in the future. These expenses may include college tuition or a car. If money is the main concern keeping mom and dad from allowing you to have a cell phone, a job will definitely place things in your favor. It is important to remember that you must keep track of the airtime limit on your wireless plan even if your parents allow you to have a cell phone. Producing extremely high cell phone bills that you cannot pay off may cause your parents to withdraw their decision.
You have good Grades
If money is not the reason why your parents do not allow you to have a cell phone, education may be their concern. Teenagers have a tendency to talk on their cell phone for hours at a time. While this may be fun, it is not best to talk on your cell phone too much. Parents worry that it will interfere with more important things such as homework and studying. In many cases, they are right. One way to convince your parents that they should allow you to have a cell phone is by having good grades.
Getting good grades in school will definitely show your parents that having a cell phone does not interfere with your school work. It is important to maintain those good grades as well. Doing so will help your parents to ease off of the strict cell phone rule and give you more privileges in that area. Having good grades in school is certainly a great way to get your parents to let you have a cell phone. By maintaining those grades will also allow you to keep it.
Peace of Mind
The tragedy at Virginia Tech has caused many parents to worry about the safety of their children. This is not one of the reasons why you should get a cell phone to talk to your friends. Instead, having a cell phone will allow you to communicate with your parents during an emergency. A school shooting is one of the worst events that can occur in any city or state. One factor that may influence your parent's decision on letting you have a cell phone is their peace of mind of knowing that their child is safe.

I am 12 and I also wanted a phone in 5th grade but then I figured out 5th grade is too young. wait a year or even better 2, and if you go to a new school, say ye old bus breaking down excuse. It works.
@ Daisy that really sucks. Try saying random things and try to crack your parents. Like when ur shopping, and you pass a phone stand, say, geez, I am really excited to go to jr. high or middle school or whatever. But what if my bus breaks down? then I would REALLy need a cell phone... Or you could just say very casually, "Geez, I really want a cell phone." that's what I did 1 day and it worked!!!
I also really wanted a phone, and what I did was negotiate and say some things about pre paid phones and finally my parents cracked...

I'm twleve and I lost my phone last week at my cheerleading competition. So, this morning my dad found a BB Storm in his old office and I casually brought up the topic of letting me have it. My mom continuosly insists that I am not responsible enough and that BB are only for buisness.
This is the only time I've officially lost a phone. I'm in involved in cheerleading, student council, and National Junior Society. I help around the house when I can but I think the whining might be the source of my problem. I'll be sure to calm myself down before bringing up the phone again.
Thanks for the help!!
