3 Ways to Decorate the Family Room with Retro Diner Furniture

Ann Siper
Retro diner furniture is not for the kitchen only. You can use these vintage finds and incorporate retro pieces in anew way in the family room so they are functional, serve a purpose, and really create a fun and family environment.

Here are 3 ways to use retro diner furniture in the family room.

Retro Diner Furniture Idea #1: Diner Table Coffee Table

A cool idea for a coffee table is to take an old retro diner table and turn it into a coffee table. In most cases to turn your retro diner table into a coffee table you will need to unscrew the existing metal legs. This way you can use them again later when you want to restore the piece to original condition.

You can either use new metal coffee table legs from a store like Ikea or order some online. They can be screwed into place underneath the retro coffee table. You can also use wood legs, but pain them out in a chrome spray paint.

This makes an awesome huge retro coffee table perfect for games with the fam and friends.

Retro Diner Furniture Idea #2: Funky Floating Shelves

So, if you are lucky enough to get your hands on some retro diner chairs, then they can easily be hung on your wall as fun floating shelves. This is the perfect way to fill up large oversized family room or den with vaulted ceilings.

Simply hang the retro diner chairs on the wall in a grid pattern. I like to use pipe brackets that screw pipes to the wall. These will fit easily over the metal legs of the diner chairs.

Use toggle bolts or drill into studs so they stay firmly on the wall.

Retro Diner Furniture Idea #3: Couch Tables

You can quickly and easily use the retro diner chairs as fun vintage side tables ot yoru sofas and chairs. If you can get your hand son retro bar stools, the kind that rotate up and down, then these work the best.

Lower the retro diner bar stool to the lowest position and simply place right next to yoru favorite reading chair or comfy couch! You can add a tray to hold drinks if needed!

If you are using chairs and they are not tall enough then you can add some height by screwing on castors ot ht bottoms of the legs. You can also stack the chairs on books to add some height.
