Here are 3 ways to decorate a kitchen using retro candy wrappers.
Retro Candy Décor #1: Counters
Covering your counter in retro candy wrappers is a cool way to add a pop of color to your kitchen and get those fun and funky colors. I only recommend this If you have outdated smooth counters, like a laminate.
You can simply use decoupage to add the candy wrappers to the counters. Once the decoupage has dried you will want to seal this with a high grade nautical sealer in clear. Add a few coats, but be sure to let each one dry before adding the next.
This is perfect for covering kitchen counters when you want the retro look, but are working on a small budget.
You can also do this same look on a tray or two and place them out on the counter or lean them on the wall above the cabinets to get the same look in a rental unit.
Retro Candy Décor #2: Accent Border
Go ahead and open up your retro candy wrappers and lay them out on your ironing board. If they are wax then simply smooth them with your hands. If they are paper, then iron them flat.
Use wall paper glue or wall paper paste to glue them onto the wall as a border. This retro candy wrapper border can be applied at any height, so play around with this and fit it to your kitchen.
If you want you could even coat old outdated kitchen cabinets with this same look. You may want to coat them with some clear sealer to make sure you can wash them off later as needed.
Retro Candy Décor #3: Light Covers
Finally, take your retro candy wrappers to the local copy store. Have them coped and printed onto acetate sheets. You can sue these in a few different ways to decorate your kitchen in a retro candy theme.
My favorite use is on pendant lights, the kind that hang down from the ceiling and have a tube shaped light glass cover on them. You can simply wrap the acetate sheet of wrappers around the existing light and fasten into place with double sided tape!

I love the idea of covering the countertop! Mine is really shabby but it's not on the list of priorities right now! This would be such a clever and quick fix!
