Tip: You can buy new tablecloths with a vintage look if you do not want to cut old tablecloths that are difficult to come by.
Retro Table Cloth Kitchen Décor #1: Pillows
Pillows are an easy and fun project to make out of old tablecloths. If you have a window seat or chairs I your kitchen, then try measuring them and making custom pillows.
You don't have to sew them if you do not want to. Try wrapping the pillows like a present. You can pin them in the back or front with retro pins an brooches from the flea market.
If you can sew a straight line though, you can easily sew a pillow!
Retro Table Cloth Kitchen Décor #2: Seat Covers
Seat covers require no sewing mind are a fun and easy project you can do in no time. First you want to unscrew the existing seats on your wood chairs.
Lay your scrap of retro tablecloth face down on yoru work surface. Place the seat top side down on the fabric. Cut the fabric so it is 4 inches wider than the seat on all sides.
Use a staple gun to staple the retro fabric onto the back of the seat. This is the perfect easy way to great shabby chic kitchen in seconds.
Tip: Vintage Chenille Bedspreads are also perfect for this look as well! Look for damaged pieces you can cut to save money in either case!
Retro Table Cloth Kitchen Décor #3: Canvas Floor Rugs
Finally use your vintage tablecloth as inspiration to paint a cool retro canvas floor rug. You will want to take a sheet of pre primed canvas. Trace your design onto the primed fabric with a pencil.
Try having the table cloth copied at Kinko's so you can cut out more difficult shape sand images. Once traced all you have to do is fill in the colors like a paint by number!
This is a fun craft for ht whole family and the results are stylish and hip.
Tip: Use a rug protector on the back o f any painted canvas rug to protect your work. This will also keep the rug from sliding out of place when you walk on it. These can be bought at any home décor store.
