3 Ways to Decorate with Vintage Molding in the Bathroom

Ann Siper
Vintage molding is a fun architectural detail perfect for decorating the bathroom with. Whether you are decorating a shabby chic bathroom, industrial bathroom, or vintage bathroom, try using pieces of old wood molding to decorate your bathroom.

Vintage Molding Bathroom Décor #1: Accent the Towel Rod

OK, this is my all time favorite way to decorate with molding in the bathroom. Take the area where you will be hanging your towel bar and first hand a piece of old door molding or vintage ceiling molding in that area.

You will want to pre drill holes through the wood and screw into the wall. You will need to screw into a stud or use wall anchors so it does not come out of the wall when you hang your towel.

Now, install your towel bar as usual! This will add interest in even the most boring bathroom! It makes statement and has a fun touch.

Vintage Molding Bathroom Décor #2: Create a Shelf

We can all use more storage in the bathroom, so why not create some shelving using old molding. Try to use vintage odor molding of this project. I like to simply install in the wall as described above.

Before you hang the molding on the wall as a shelf though take a 1X4 board and cut it to the same size as the molding. Screw into the top to attach. You can also use flat metal brackets on the back. Paint it all out in the same color to coordinate!

You get storage, more architectural interest in your home, and a cook new bathroom shelf all in one!

Try this one on the bathroom mirror top if you are limited on wall space!

Vintage Molding Bathroom Décor #3: Frame the Mirror

OK, no bathroom mirror r should be without a frame in my onion! If you have an ugly mirror frame, then take it down.

You can use Gorilla Glue and nails to build a new frame to hand over your mirror. You will want ot beveled the edged of your vintage door molding or ceiling molding and assemble the frame using flat L brackets and screws. Now, screw into the wall!

This is so cool looking and will look like you spent a ton of money, not a ton of time dumpster diving! Get creative with this one and frame windows as well! You can also make great frames for pictures this way as well.
