Here are 3 ways to decorate with vintage photos in your retro bathroom:
Vintage Photo Bathroom Décor #1: Shower Curtain
To get started you will want to take your clear vintage photo to the copy store. Have it blown up to poster size on black and white copy paper. Cut it out into small squares. These will need to be 8X10 inches or smaller.
Now, scan these photos into your computer. Print each one out on a sheet of photo transfer paper. Iron the squares of photo transfer paper onto your fabric shower curtain. Try leaving a ¼ inch line between each square, sort of like grout in between tiles!
Another option is to take 8X10 photos and laminate them. Punch a hole in each of the four corners. Install grommets over the holes.
Now, tie the laminated square soft paper into a large shower curtain sheet sized shape. Hang these in front of your shower, but you will need a plastic liner behind them! This is a fun a retro modern look, but do not skip the plastic clear liner or colored liner or you will be sorry!
Vintage Photo Bathroom Décor #2: Wall Mural
Try using a vintage photo to create a cool wall mural on your bathroom wall. A fun way to do this is to scan your photo into the computer. Use a program or photo editing program that allows you to turn photos into outlines. Print this outline and use this to draw the photo on the wall.
You can paint in the colors like a paint by number! This can add a ton of color or vintage charm to a plain bathroom in need of some visual interest.
Vintage Photo Bathroom Décor #3: The Counter
Finally, to cover up an outdate bathroom counter why not decoupage the vintage photos (or copies of vintage photos) onto the laminate counter? You can create any layered pattern or tile pattern you want. Be sure to apply a few coats of the decoupage medium on top of the pictures.
This will water proof the images and make your vintage looking counter last longer! You can also seal with a nautical grade clear sealer.
