It wasn't long ago that you had to wait a day or so for a DVD to arrive from Netflix. When Netflix first started their service, getting a DVD in only a day was quick. But it left a lot of people wanting their movie selections quicker... and Netflix listened and introduced instant streaming to your PC for select movies and TV shows. But there's no need to watch your favorite movies and TV shows on your computer's small screen when you can easily stream them to your TV.

If you're not a member of Netflix, you can sign-up at netflix.com . They now offer plans from as low as $7 per month. Once you have a Netflix plan you're ready to start watching movies and TV shows from Netflix on your TV. Here are three different ways you can do that.

Use you gaming console

If you own a xBox 360, Playstation 3, or a Wii you're in luck. Each of these devices, when connected to the internet, can stream movies and TV shows to your television. For the Wii just go to the Wii shop channel and follow the instructions. If you're using a Playstation 3, PlayStation® Network account go to the "PlayStatioNetwork" section of the "XMB" then select "What's New" and then select "Netflix" to download and install the Netflix application. And if you own a Xbox 360 create an Xbox Gold LIVE membership if you don't already have one and then download the Netflix application from the Video Marketplace.

Use a Streaming Player

The are several devices on the market that will allow you to steam Netflix movies and TV shows. The Apple TV from Apple allows you to download and rent movies from Apple's iTunes store in addition to allowing you to stream movies and TV shows from Netflix.

The Logitech Revue with Google TV allows you to download apps, watch TV shows and movies and also stream movies and TV shows from Netflix.

Plug your laptop directly into your TV

This option is the least expensive if you do not already own a gaming console, set-top streaming player, or another devise capable of streaming content from Netflix. However, the other options are more convenient if you plan to stream movies and TV shows regularly.

To connect your laptop to your TV use a s-video cable to plug into your laptop's s-video output socket. Plug the other end into your TV's s-video input socket. From your laptop select the "Display Settings" and then the "Identify Monitor" to have you PC identify the new monitor. You should now be able to steam movies and TV shows from Netflix.
