Here are 3 ways to update your shower curtain for cheap:
Shower Curtain Makeovers #1: Remove the Poofy Valance
So many shower curtains left over from the early 1990's and 1980's have that huge poofy valance at the top. One of the quickest ways to update a bathroom that has this style of shower curtain in it is to simply remove the valance.
If you take a look at the shower curtain you will find that either this is a whole separate piece or it may button to the main body of the shower curtain. Take this off and rehang the main flat panel of the shower curtain all on its own! You have a whole new look in less than 10 minutes.
Shower Curtain Makeovers #2: Cut it Up
So, you have a crazy patterned shower curtain and you want to break this up. For a fun modern look why not take the shower curtain and cut it into large squares. You can install grommets in each of the corners.
Tip: Hem each side of the squares so they do not unravel. Now, tie the grommets together with ribbon in a coordinating color. The look is fresh, modern, and can give a checker board look. Your plastic liner will keep the bathroom dry and line the fabric curtain.
You can also sew these squares onto a plain plastic or fabric shower curtain in fun polka dots. Your sewing machine will work on plastic liners as well as fabric liners, so get creative wiht the designs you cut out.
Shower Curtain Makeovers #3: Coffee Stain It
For a very easy update to a very bright or odd colored outdated shower curtain try soaking it in a coffee stain. Simply fill the sink up with coffee and dip your fabric into it.
Let this soak until the garish colors on the outdated fabric have turned into a vintage version of themselves! This is the perfect update for bright fabric showers curtains in a mod pattern from the 1970's! Those bright oranges and purples will mellow out to vintage orange and rustic purple and really look hip, cool, and all new again in the bathroom. This one is the easiest bathroom makeover on a budget.
