If you could choose one day out of your whole life that you want to be stress- and problem-free, it would probably be your wedding. Unfortunately, stress-free isn't always the case. There are a number of things that can go wrong on your wedding day. Here are three wedding day dilemmas and tips on how to deal with them.
Acne Breakouts
One study that was done on teenagers found that acne was more common during times of stress, possibly due to an increase in inflammation, according to WebMD. What this means is that you're actually more likely to experience a breakout during the days before your wedding, when your stress levels are sure to be up.
There are several things you can do if a breakout occurs. Small pimples can generally be covered up with makeup. Redness, which results from inflammation, can be reduced by applying an ice pack, aloe or green tea bags. If your pimple is large, hard, and painful, it is likely a cystic pimple. To get rid of this, call a dermatologist about doing a cortisone injection to get rid of it.
Prevent it from happening: To keep breakouts at bay, it's important to keep your stress levels under control. Also be sure to follow a daily skin care regime during the months before your wedding.
Menstruation
No one wants to be bloated, have killer cramps, or need to worry about changing tampons or pads while they are wearing a wedding dress. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do in this case except plan ahead of time.
Prevent it from happening: Talk to your gynecologist about delaying your period for your wedding day with birth control pills. One option is to skip the last week of sugar pills. You may also want to try an extended-cycle birth control pill, such as Seasonique or Seasonale, which will allow you to have a menstrual period only once every three months. Taking your pills at the same time every day can help reduce spotting or breakthrough bleeding on the day of your wedding.
An Upset Stomach
There is a chance that you could have a bout of food poisoning or a stomach virus on the day of your wedding, but it's probably just nerves. Remember that this is supposed to be the happiest day of your life, not something to be nervous about. Practice relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, if you do experience a stomach issue. Also be sure to skip the fast food run that many brides make while getting ready.
Prevent it from happening: Keep stress under control. Also be sure to avoid foods that may bother your stomach for at least two days before the wedding. Caffeine, spicy foods, fried and greasy foods, dairy products, starchy foods, and high-fiber foods (e.g. beans, cauliflower) should all be avoided. Eat light and fill yourself up with high-protein foods, like grilled chicken and salmon.
These three wedding day dilemmas can happen, but don't fret about it. Even an upset stomach, menstrual period, or breakout doesn't have to ruin your day.

Post a CommentIt would be such a pain to have any of these problems on your wedding day, especially your period! I experienced a catalogue of disasters that could have ruined my big day. We missed the flight into the city where we were scheduled to get married, but managed to get in on standby flights, I burned both my hands on curling irons on my wedding day, so I had to sit with both hands in ice water so the swelling would go down in time, my dad was late in arriving to walk me down the aisle, my ring was lost (and was not located until after the ceremony) and then when we left to return home, the camera was left behind in the hotel. We can laugh about all this now, but it didn't seem so funny at the time!
