3 Wonderful First Date Ideas in Minneapolis

S. Gustafson
Minneapolis is a vibrant city, and there is plenty to do here. Sometimes, though, the variety of options can be overwhelming, making it difficult to decide on first date ideas. If you are struggling to find first date ideas in Minneapolis, you might want to try one of the following three locations.

1. Guthrie Theater

818 South 2nd Street
Minneapolis, MN 55415
(612) 377-2224

The Guthrie Theater is the premier venue for great plays in Minneapolis. Founded in 1963 by Sir Tyrone Guthrie, Oliver Rea, and Peter Zeisler, the Guthrie Theater has grown to be one of the most respected theater companies in the United States. The Guthrie Theater facility features three different theaters: a thrust stage, a proscenium stage and a black box studio. It is a great place to enjoy performances such as A Christmas Carol, A Streetcar Named Desire, Macbeth, and others. After the play, you and your date can take a romantic stroll on the "endless bridge" to the Mississippi River.

2. Loring Park

1382 Willow Street South,

Minneapolis, MN‎

(612) 370-4929‎

Enjoy a walk through the largest city park in Minneapolis. Loring Park has several beautiful pathways and bike trails that wind around Loring Lake. During the summer, you and your date can attend "Movies in the Park" which is held on Monday nights on a drive-in movie screen at Loring Park. Loring Park is one of the best first date ideas because it is such a central location-it is a short walk away from the Walker Art Center, the Minneapolis Convention Center, St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, and several restaurants and nightclubs.

3. Nicollet Ave

Minneapolis, MN

Nicollet Ave is the best of the first date ideas for those who enjoy fine wine and dining. Also known as "eat street," Nicollet Ave is home to a plethora of wonderful restaurants and cafes. Favorite restaurants on Nicollet Ave include Azia Restaurant, Black Forest Inn, Salsa A La Salsa and Christos Greek Restaurant. Nicollet Ave is also a great place to go if you're into shopping. Check out the Nicollet Mall, which runs along part of Nicollet Ave. It was the location of the famous cap toss from the opening of the Mary Tyler Moore show.

There are dozens of great first date ideas in Minneapolis, but if you really want to impress your date, take him or her to the Guthrie Theater, Loring Park, or Nicollet Ave.
