Some times in the summer kids start getting a bit bored. They either don't have much to do, their video games aren't quite as entertaining, or their friends go on vacation. But there are activities that they can participate in that will keep them busy and having fun.
This summer Papillion will be offering many things for our youth; which are as follows:
1. Junior Tennis Camp is geared towards kids from 5 years old to 14 years old; and is for those that are just starting out and for those that are at the intermediate level. These classes introduce kids to the basics of tennis such as, coordination, how to stand, how to hit the ball, etc. The kids will have access to on-court play and they will also have fun games and activities for the kids. There are a total of 6 sessions which is plenty enough time for the kids to learn the basics of a new sport. The first session is from June 2nd-4th; second session is June 14th -16th; third session June 23rd -25th, fourth session is June 28th- 30th; fifth session is from July 12th-14th, and the sixth session is from July 21st-23rd. The starting and ending times are based on age group; ages 5-8 will have a starting time of 6:00 pm and go to 6:50 pm and the 9-14 year olds will start at 7:00 pm and end at 8:00 pm. The sessions will be held at Papillion-La vista High School located at 402 Centennial Road and the fees are $25.00
2. Baseball Rookie Camp starts on June 5th and ends August 7th. This camp is opened to both girls and boys ages 4-6; there are only two sessions and they last from 9:00 am-10:00 am and also from 10:20 to 11:20. These sessions will be held at the North and South Backstops next to the Soccer Complex which at 1100 West Lincoln Road just 2 blocks west of 84th street. The fees are $20.00 and the camp is asking parents to sing up to volunteer.
3. Soccer Camp is a 7 week program for boys and girls ages 4-6 and again parents are encouraged to sign up to volunteer. Parents must enroll their child and pay a fee of $20.00. The sessions begin on June 8th and end on July 29th. Practices will be at the Recreation Activity Fields at 1100 West Lincoln Street in Papillion.
