Is Water Fasting Really Effective?

At some point in your life the word fast or fasting may have been introduced. In most cases the word fasting makes you cringe in horror simply because of what it represents. No one generally wants to deprive themselves of anything especially the things they really enjoy doing. However, fasting should be considered when your body starts displaying symptoms of imbalance in the body, spirit and mind.

Who should consider fasting? An indication that your body needs natural restoration is when your mind no longer seems clear but cloudy and less sharp. Another indication is feelings of fatigue, lack of interest, physical heaviness, weight gain or sudden illnesses.

Though there are many different forms of fasting the one with the most benefits is water fasting. In simplest terms water fasting is the process of drinking only water which can be either bottled or distilled for an extended period of time. Tap water is generally not recommended for a water fast because of its harshness to the system. The longer the fast the better the benefits. A water fast should not go longer than 30 days and a doctor should be consulted if you are trying to fast for a long period of time. You may ask yourself how living off of a diet of only water beneficial. Well there are many benefits to water fasting which includes the elimination of waste that is trapped inside of the body via the lymphoid, fatty tissue and the colon.

After the first two days of your fast your body will recognize that something has changed and will start the process of restoring itself to its original state. Feelings of hunger for the first few days are normal and shouldn't cause any unnecessary alarm. Other symptoms that the fast is working are headaches the severity depends on the amount of toxins in your body, Feeling lightheaded which can be caused if you are over exerting yourself while you fast which is not recommended and nausea. These symptoms usually occur during the first stage of the fast when the body is ridding itself of dangerous toxins that are trapped in the body. So now that you have started the fast what are the benefits you may want to know.

There are several benefits to water fasting; the first is the clarity you will experience. Your brain will no longer feel like you have a gray cloud following you around. You will also feel much lighter and full of energy. There have been cases of major illnesses being cured from water fasting. So its healing components are phenomenal. But the most obvious benefits to water fasting are the amount of weight that can be lost. During a fast your body begins to burn stored fat to survive. The best part about the weight loss is that it doesn't require a gym or any exercise. Exercise is actually forbidden because you aren't giving it energy (food) However, once food is put back into the diet you will have to work to maintain any weight that was lost. Fasting can become addicting so it is not recommended for long stretches of time. It is also not for the weak willed. It takes determination, a strong will and a desire to naturally heal yourself and a resolve to help keep you committed. Remember to consult with a Doctor if you have any ongoing or major health conditions before starting any fasting program.
