Thanks to the exceptional picture and attractive design, consumers have been flocking to new, high-definition, flat-panel technology for the last few years. Thankfully, we have seen the same advancement in the TV / DVD combinations. This year, one of the United State's most popular South Korean electronics manufacture LG has come out with the 32LG40. This 32 inch flat panel LCD comes complete with an integrated DVD player hidden right on the side. I have spent some time with the 32LG40 and I'm going to tell you just how well it performed.

Product Overview:

Unlike the majority of LCD products on the market today the 32LG40 incorporates a bit of color into the design of this television's frame. The frame is glossy black with a dark strip of red along the bottom. This works for those that want to draw a little extra attention to their electronics but I found that it looks a little off in a room decorated in a mature fashion. Take that is a note to all you grandmothers out there, it won't look good against your floral print.

The high definition picture quality is fantastic with deep blacks and very good color accuracy. This TV produces a 720p picture which is adequate with a 32 inch screen, 1080p would be overkill and a difference between the two resolutions would be undetectable. One of the only downsides I have found is that the seats in my living room with the most extreme angle have a hard time seeing the television. The other negative I feel I need to mention is that standard definition viewing is sub-par in my opinion. The quality of DVD video is exceptional and there are plenty of picture adjustment options, I found it quite easy to tweak the video to my viewing conditions.

The DVD player that is included is probably the standout feature on this little LG. As a 32 inch television it is the prime size for a bedroom TV. It will look great on the wall and you won't have to worry about cords stringing down to a stand alone DVD player. In case you do need to connect something to this television it won't be a problem because the connectivity is superb with a component in as well as several HDMI inputs.

Product Value:

The LG 32LG40 can be found for around $700 if you do some shopping around. At this price point it is certainly a great deal. Thanks to its mid summer release I think $700 may be about as low as we'll find this DVD / TV combo this Christmas season but be sure too keep your eyes open.
