34 Out of the Top 50 Largest Law Firms in the US Did Work on Behalf of Terrorists Captured in the War on Terror

Marc Schenker
34 out of the top 50, largest law firms in the US did work on behalf of terrorists captured in the War on Terror or worked with them, according to the Department of Justice itself. In a stunning statistic that was revealed on the Reality Check segment of the O'Reilly Factor, the Department of Justice sent via e-mail a response to a Factor inquiry about why Attorney General Eric Holder has a suspiciously high number of terrorist defenders on his staff. By the latest count, the obnoxious number was at an already alarming 14 lawyers at Eric Holder's Department of Justice who did work, as private counsels, on behalf of captured terrorists detained in the War on Terror. This number is nightmarish in how disturbing it is because it confirms suspicions that Eric Holder is too friendly to terrorists and is why he seeks to treat them with "kid gloves" as mere criminals instead of terrorists, as in the case of the Detroit bomber.

This disturbing statistic just confirms the conventional wisdom that many people hate lawyers-and I mean really, really...really hate them. If they didn't already hate lawyers before, they sure as heck will now with this revelation that many of the Department of Justice's top lawyers/advisers are biased in favor of captured terrorists. How insane is that?? Isn't the-or maybe I should write shouldn't the-priority of Department of Justice lawyers be to work on protecting US citizens instead?

This shocking revelation that 34 of the nation's top 50, largest law firms are ideologically in love with working on behalf of captured terrorists merely confirms that many lawyers in the US are a stubbornly left-leaning bunch...to the extreme. In fact, they're so extreme that a certain, hardcore bunch of them has found a well-protected home within the US Department of Justice and, armed with their bias in favor of captured terrorists, may well be building a proverbial fifth column to aid terrorists by prosecuting them ineffectively as "criminals" instead of what they really are.

According to the Washington Times, this whole mini-scandal (only because this explosive story hasn't just yet been picked up by more media sources...because they're likely covering Al Gore's sham global warming instead) dates back to last November when GOP, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley was obstructed relentlessly by Eric Holder at a Senate hearing. At issue in Holder's obstructionism were requests by Grassley to have the Department of Justice provide a comprehensive list of detainee cases from which Department of Justice lawyers were recused and also the names of said lawyers.

After ignoring Grassley's very understandable request in light of national security for an antagonistic three months, Holder dispatched his aide, Ronald Welch, to answer Grassley. As predictable and as observable from past episodes of how the Obama Administration deals with transparency requests, Welch's response was insufficient and even covered-up exactly the names of the cases and lawyers at the Department of Justice, the whole point of Grassley's request. Welch's response would only admit that nine lawyers did work for terrorists.

Now, according to the Legal Times, this is already a falsehood because it identified 14 Department of Justice lawyers who did work on behalf of captured terrorists! Their names are Eric Holder himself, Associate AG Thomas Perrelli, former Deputy AG David Ogden, James Garland, John Bies, Aaron Lewis, Stuart Delery, Eric Columbus, Chad Golder, Brian Hauck, Donald Verrilli, Lanny Breuer, Tony West and Neal Katyal.

Without a doubt, the only rational explanation that can be thought of for this veil of secrecy from a Department of Justice under Obama that is anti-transparency is...shame. As in, they're much too ashamed of admitting just how many fifth column-building terrorist sympathizers work under Eric Holder in the Department of Justice! The beauty of this expose is how it also finally explains why the ideology of Eric Holder and the whole Department of Justice has been to disastrously try terrorists/enemy combatants merely like little criminals: because they're a bunch of radically ideological, liberal zealots who improperly believe in terrorists having constitutional rights.

Including Rudy Giuliani's law firm! Yes...America's Mayor defending Al Quaida...and so did the JAG. Yes let's paint every law firm that takes on pro bono work, as terrorist synpathizers!

Interesting analysis. Here's an article about how Chehttp://www.opednews.com/duncan_0090304_NJ_terrorism1.htmrtoff, Republican, defended an alleged terrorist

I think that any terrorist who is not a US citizen should be tried by a military tribunal. And any terrorist who is a US citizen should be tried for treason.

Nice eye-catching article. But your article fails to prove any wrong doing on the part of the lawyers. My question is: How many of those lawyers were appointed by the court to defend the terrorists. Both you and I know that a lawyer cannot decline an order to defend one who cannot afford a lawyer. I do have one question for you: With regard to the intent of the lawyers, what happened to the motto "innocent until proven guilty?"

Frightening statistics. Sounds like treason to me.

This is just further proof of this Administration's failure to understand that it is WAR and not some "overseas contingency operation." Great article, Marc.

Wow! This is scary to think about...

How is it that the best lawyers are never on your side?

  • Brandon Miller3/2/2010

The thing I hate the most is that fact that the US taxpayers have to pay for all of this. Do the terrorist come here and pay for their own lawyers? I think not. And, who do we think paid for the "underwear bomber" to go to one of the best burn units in the country. Why don't put our tax dollars to better use? You know what would be a cost effective solution? How about a bullet between the terroist's eyes. Cheap and effective. Hey, you'll never hear me complain about taxes that actually get a job done :) !!
