35th Annual Wheatland Music Festival Dates Announced

Here we are, less than three months after the 35th Annual Wheatland Music Festival, and the event planners and organizers at the Wheatland Music Organization have already announced the festival dates for 2009. The 36th Annual Wheatland Music Festival will begin early morning on Friday, September 11, and officially comes to a close on Sunday, September 13 (though patrons are given until Monday afternoon to pack up all their belongings and clear the festival grounds).

This past year saw bands such as the Pine Leaf Boys, David "Honeyboy" Edwards, Tarbox Ramblers, The Refugees, Crooked Still and many, many more great bands. If you are a fan of folk rock, classic Americana or good old fashioned bluegrass music, you can rest assured that the lineup in 2009 will not disappoint. After all, they've kept people coming back for 35 years now.

There is a lot more to Wheatland than just the music, too. There are a wide variety of instrument workshops that cater to all skill levels. These workshops, which focus on instruments such as the banjo, the dulcimer, drums, and the like, can help both the beginner and veteran alike; child or adult.

Besides the workshops there are vendors of all sorts to browse and shop while enjoying your extended weekend. Some offer handmade arts and crafts, jewelry, or clothing, while some deal in specialty foods that you can't find anywhere else. Unlike many other music festivals, the Wheatland Music Festival even boasts its own permanent on-site restaurant where concert goers can relax and dine indoors.

Wheatland really does offer something to do for the entire family. There is a massive playground dedicated to children, which is well supervised at all times, and parents are of course invited to monitor things, as well. There is a dance hall with group line dances, square dancing, and more, and various games and other attractions scattered throughout the grounds.

Located in Remus, Michigan, The Wheatland Music Festival has entertained millions of guests over the past 34 years, and there is no doubt they'll continue with the tradition well into the future. It is a time that is anticipated by many not only from Michigan, but from all around the country, who want to have a good time and listen to some of the best bluegrass music around. There really is a community atmosphere at the Wheatland Music Festival that you won't see at other, more mainstream music festivals. Because once you go to Wheatland for the first time, you have a tendency to go back year after year.
