3D Movies Take Over the Cinemas

If you are a movie buff, you will soon be singing the praises of feature films in 3d. The new movies to be released in 2008 and 2009 are not the 3D movies you will recall from years ago. This fabulous technology is digital 3D. The images created are calibrated to synchronize for both the left and right eye. Viewers do not complain of any headaches or blurry, double-vision. You will have no eye strain from these fantastic films. Simply expect the fun and excitement of the movie to jump right off the screen to greet you.

The fabulous technology that is used to make the thrilling images was created by NASA. Originally, the technology was made to assist astronauts. The astronauts needed a way to train to perform repairs in space. The scientific technology has traveled from space missions to the big screen.

Major movie studios are in the process of producing one or two movies in 3D. Even some smaller studios have a 3D film in the midst of production. It is estimated that a 3D movie costs approximately 10 to 15 million dollars, in addition to typical production expenses, to create a movie in 3D using the new digital technology, but the added expense is expected to be recovered due to interest in the movie. Walt Disney and Dream Works support the technology. Expect numerous upcoming releases to be in 3D in 2009.

As soon as next year, "Journey 3D" is expected to be released. It will be the first feature film of this type to be released. Theatres planning to show the new digital 3D films are going to shell out quite a pretty penny. Licensing costs and other related expenses will be about $25,000 to $30,000.

Fans of the new digital 3D movies will still need to wear funky glasses to achieve the full effect of the exciting live-action flicks. Trade your stylish sunglasses for some fancy 3D specs. Who knows? They may be the upcoming fashion craze.

The goofy goggles may never be stylin' but they sure are fun! Picture yourself snacking on some buttery popcorn when the film begins and the characters are right up in your face. The digital technology that once benefited the space program now offers exciting entertainment potential to the masses. Isn't science wonderful?

All movie goers are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the 3D technology to enhance their visual experience. New digital 3D movies are coming soon to a theatre near you.

I am not impressed with 3d movies or tv. it blurry with the glasses and blurry without and I have 20 20 vision. Until I can plug in my head for some VR. 3d movies are a let down, not to mention all the 3d rereleases.

Great article. I hope that some of the bigger movies will use this technology like Harry Potter.

Well, they already have something along these lines. It's IMax, but this sounds like a great idea. I can't wait, I will really take a look at the first movie that comes out in this format.
