3D TV: Three Reasons Why it is Too Early to Buy
Three Dimensional Television: Not Everyone is Sold Yet
First, while a large number of people that love electronics are quick to purchase a newly released electronic product it is proven fact that they often have imperfections that need to be worked out. One large imperfection with the new 3D TV line is the hampered viewing and interruption of the three dimension effect when not seated exactly square to the screen. This leaves some of the viewing audience frustrated with what they are missing. It tends to interfere with viewing to the point of distraction.
Second, if these 3 dimensional television sets are good then the next 3D TV sets that are released, which won't be long, will be great. If you purchase a first run you will surely be one of those consumers that will want to upgrade to the new 3D TV sets the minute they arrive. Waiting for the new and improved 3D TV versions might be a better approach.
Third, probably the most important reason for waiting to purchase a 3D TV is the 3D glasses required for viewing. Currently each 3D TV set requires a set of 3D glasses for each viewer. One 3D TV's glasses will not work for viewing on another 3D TV set. This presents problems if you have company over and are short a couple sets of glasses or you go to a friend's house that has a different brand of 3D TV where your 3D glasses won't work. It is hoped that in time there will be some integration between brands so one set of glasses will work with all 3D TV sets. Also, with time it is hoped that no glasses will be necessary.
Even though the 3D TV is a novel and very cool concept I am one consumer that is going to wait before purchasing. I'll let other electronic consumers work out the kinks.

Post a CommentI would have to concur with TV guy... If the 3d televisions on the market today were only useful for 3D, then I would say "wait". However, they do much more than that! Many of them are also very GOOD 2D (regular) televisions.
When the first LCD televisions came out, were people NOT buying them, concluding, "well, I'm not going to buy an LCD television because if the technology is this good now, it will be better in the future...".
Let's face it, companies could NEVER make better FUTURE technology if consumers did not BUY the CURRENT technology...
I've never seen it, but those who have viewed Avatar 3D on a 3D television state it's nothing like they've ever seen before... Why would anyone want to deprive themselves of that?
Sony Playstation has a handful of 3D games out on the market right now. Your article would suggest that we as consumers should hold off even purchasing those games because the technology "isn't good
1. Sonys 3d glasses work at even 178 degree viewing angle on the new LED 3D tvs
2. All electronics improve over time thats the way electronics work. If you like 3D then buy a 3D tv unless you dont mind waiting 6 months to a year.
3. The glasses use an infrared transmitter but will not work with different brands and i doubt they ever will. They want you to buy thier products so they make it that way. That is the electronics industry for you
