Kendra Dahlstrom
Baking can be a hobby, family bonding time, or a necessity. There are so many different types of foods you can bake, each having different skill requirements. This can become overwhelming for the novice baker. However, knowing a few simple tricks can save even the professional baker some time and energy. There are 5 baking tips that everyone in the kitchen should know.

Sticking Cake
When making a layered cake it is necessary to remove cake cleanly from it's pan. This can prove to be difficult for many bakers. An easy solution is to place the baking pan on a damp towel for several minutes. Do this immediately after you take the cake out of the oven. After a few minutes, the cake will fall out cleanly.

Sticking to the Middle
It can be close to impossible to prevent the bottom of a baking good from sticking to the middle of the pan. No matter what you do, sometimes there is no way around this problem. If you find your self in this situation, stick a piece of aluminum foil on the bottom of the cake pan before you pour in the batter. Once the baking is complete and the cake is removed from the pan, simply peel off the aluminum foil.

Oven Tip
Baking in ovens depends on proper air circulation. Sometimes bakers will use both oven racks at the same time. If you find yourself in this situation, make sure to stagger the pans to allow air flow around both. Also, be sure the oven racks are at least 6 inches away from each other before baking.

Fruit Distribution
One of the main troubles of baking with dried fruit is the tendency to fall to the bottom. Although cakes still contain all the goodness of the fruit, the pieces are not evenly distributed. The best way to avoid this problem is to roll the dried fruit in flour immediately before putting them into your batter. You will have beautifully distributed fruit cakes and muffins.

Even the best baker can use some helpful tips around the kitchen. Baking is something that takes time and patience. If there are ways in which your time and energy baking can be decreased, you should always give them a try. Try these 4 baking tips in your kitchen the next time you decide to whip up a delicious cake or a batch of muffins.
