4 Causes of Fatigue

Lee Andrew Henderson
Fatigue is not just a feeling that somebody gets because they haven't gotten enough sleep. A fatigue feeling occurs when someone feels lethargic for a long period of time, usually a couple of days, and not just one day. There are many reasons that a person suffers from fatigue and these are a few of them.

Sleep Disorders

Fatigue is not something that occurs after one bad night of sleep but obviously continuous lack of sleep can lead to fatigue. That is why many sleep disorders will cause the victim to be fatigued. Sleep is how the body restores its energy and in order to do so the body goes into a deep sleep. Sleep disorders cause the victim to wake up several times throughout the night and then the body will never reach a deep sleep and restore its energy.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a disease that can be caused by obesity and with the rising rate of overweight Americans there will be a lot of people that feel fatigue due to Diabetes. Diabetes can cause fatigue because it has an effect on insulin. In Type 1 Diabetes there is a lack of insulin and in Type 2 Diabetes the body resists the insulin. The role of insulin in the boy is to transform glucose into energy so a lack of insulin means a lack of energy.

Eating Disorders

Unfortunately in addition to a lot of overweight Americans there is still no shortage of people that don't eat enough too. There are all sorts of types of eating disorders. Some eating disorders result from a person eating too much, too little or just eating incorrectly. All of these eating disorders could lead to a lack of nutrients, which will lead to fatigue.

Anemia

Another possible reason for fatigue is anemia. Anemia is a very common blood disorder. Anemia can result in either a low amount of red blood cells or a low amount of hemoglobin. If the red blood cell count is down then the heart will over work itself in order to compensate and when the heart is focused on the red blood cells the rest of the body will not get the energy it needs.

Other Ailments

If none of these possible reasons seem plausible then your condition could be very serious. There are many serious ailments that can lead to fatigue and you should consult a doctor. Even if the reasons listed above are possible explanations for the fatigue that you are experiecing it is still best to see a doctor to be certain of the reason for fatigue.
