4 Cheap Features that Make the $100 Samsung Conquer 4G Not Worth Buying
Why the Samsung Conquer 4G May Be Too Cheap
The Samsung Conquer 4G is set to launch by August 21, 2011 and will be Samsung's first 4G capable smartphone for under $100. At a price like $99.99 you'd think that you couldn't go wrong, but the Samsung Conquer 4G has its share of issues.
Hardware
Sure, one can't be too choosy for a phone marketed at $99.99, but even still, the hardware specs of the Samsung Conquer 4G leaves a lot to be desired by modern day standards. The Samsung Conquer 4G features a 1GHz processor, likely 512MB of RAM, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and a 1500 mAh battery. The hardware specs of this smartphone are just enough to get the job done, but most other smartphones nowadays pack twice the power of the Samsung Conquer 4G.
Price
Wait. What? The Samsung Conquer 4G's price-point is one of its biggest selling points, and at $99.99 how could its price be an issue? At $99.99 the Samsung Conquer 4G appears to be a great deal, but there's a catch. To get 4G internet access on a Sprint smartphone, users are forced to shell out an additional $10 a month to do so. Considering the added fee of $120 in addition to your current monthly carrier charges, the Samsung Conquer 4G can prove to be very expensive indeed.
Battery Life
Battery life is one of the most important features of virtually any gadget and regardless of if you're paying $20 or $10,000 for a gadget, if its battery is "shot", it's going to be a real bummer. Smartphone batteries are constantly evolving and nowadays it's not uncommon to spot 10+ hour batteries on smartphones, but not on the Samsung Conquer 4G. The Samsung Conquer 4G sports a 1500 mAh battery, but unfortunately, can only supply a max talk time of 6 hours.
Camera Quality
Smartphone cameras are no longer considered to be an add-on or bonus feature and are now considered mandatory by most consumers. Smartphone cameras are quickly ridding the world of digital cameras as most consumers default cameras and with most smartphones boasting 5,8, 10, and even 12 megapixels, the camera of the Samsung Conquer 4G will leave most users disappointed. With its paltry 3.2 megapixel camera, taking photos and recording videos won't be ideal using the Samsung Conquer 4G and if you're a smartphone photography buff, you might want to pass on this phone.
