4 Creative Ideas for Decorating Brownies

Holly Matheson
Kicking back with a plate of fresh brownies and a tall glass of cold milk is a great way to satisfy your sweet spot. Why not double the fun and create your own designer brownies?

Creamy Mint Chocolate Chip Brownies
Before baking, crush a few peppermint patties in a separate bowl and add to brownie batter. Bake the brownies for the recommended time and allow to cool before decorating. For this recipe, choose your favorite icing along with some green food coloring. A few drops should do, just enough to make your icing resemble the color of mint chocolate chip ice cream as closely as possible. Spread evenly over brownies. Now for the fun part: Decorate your brownie with chocolate icing going in diagonal lines and top with chocolate chips.

Crispy Rainbow Brownies
Do you remember Sixlets, the candy coated milk chocolate candy? If you're lucky enough to be able to find them, they make a great decorative yet tasty touch to brownies. Just like with the mint brownies mentioned above, crush the Sixlets in a separate bowl, but this time do not add to brownie batter. Bake brownies as suggested for the recommended time and allow to cool before decorating. Spread your favorite icing evenly over brownies and top with the crushed Sixlets. For the final touch, drizzle hot fudge over the top of the brownies.

Chocolate Indulgence Brownies
Before baking your brownies, mix some miniature peanut butter cups in with the batter. Bake for the recommended time. These brownies are best served warm so decorate them soon after you have removed them from the oven. Over the tops of your brownies, spread some marshmallow creme evenly and drizzle with caramel and hot fudge. Finally, top with finely chopped nuts and enjoy!

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Brownies
Bake your brownies for the recommended time and allow to cool before decorating. While brownies are baking, slice up some fresh strawberries and refrigerate until ready to use. When brownies are done baking, top them with the strawberries you cut and spread milk chocolate icing evenly over the tops of the brownies.

Each of these recipes are great alone but make them even better by enjoying them with a scoop or two of your favorite ice cream or a cold glass of milk.
