Jim Posey
When you land an interview, it's the best chance that you will have to be memorable and be able to get noticed. Having an interview go well can make up for weak spots in your work experience or qualifications.

When entering into an interview for an entry level job position you have to be tuned to succeed. Researching the company and learning what the offer to customers, how long they have been in operation, how they are doing in the market, who their customers are. You should write a brief one page report for every company you are thinking of applying for a job with. This will not only help you write a better resume focused on that individual company but will also help you decide if you really want to work with this company. You may find out that though a company looked healthy from the outside if you would have dug slightly below the surface you will find a downward spiral that will leave you looking for another job in three years.

During the interview for your entry level job position don't just tell the interviewer your previous experiences, sell it. Rather than listing off your last jobs and why you left. Tell them skills that you learned and achievements that you had while working at your previous jobs. Tailor how you tell these experiences depending on what is most attractive to the company your working for. For instance, if the company you're working for is concerned primarily with customer service empathize these achievements while spending minimal time discussing your organizational skills.

To leave a memorable impression you will have to adjust your attitude to be positive and confident. Even with all the bad news circulating on the state of economy and international events you will have to live at the door when you walk in for an interview with the company you want to work for. Having the right social attitude will be the biggest wild card when a company considers potential employees. First impressions are made in the first 3 seconds of meeting someone. This might seem unfair, and that you will like to be judged on your character and qualifications and not on how you appear. However, Companies are looking to hire human being not just drone workers. You will be able to make an impact and be memorable if you adopt the proper attitude and check the negativity.

Showing how you're a personable, competent person will give you a leg up over all the other hungry job hunters looking for entry level jobs. Remember to respect the time of your interviewers and they will respect yours.
