4 Essential Tips for Traveling on Your Summer Vacation: Part 2
Pack Your Baggage Smart and Efficiently
1. Save space and help stop wrinkles by rolling up your clothes. Don't fold!
Seems this one originates from an old navy trick. Fold in half all of your skirts, pants, and shirts, then roll them up! This simple trick will save you at least 30% of space.
2. Pick one base color for your wardrobe for your vacation.
All of my shirts have coordination with either a black or brown base. Keep one or two primary base colors in mind when choosing your tie, shoes, belts, pants, etc.
3. Make use of t-shirts that have neutral colors
Make sure to take along at least one white and one black t-shirt. T-shirts that have basic, neutral colors can be matched with anything and will simplify what you need to pack to match.
4. Lay all potential clothes on your bed before packing them
Count how many days you will be away, and make sure to include the special occasions when you go out. Count how many outfits you have in total. If your total amount of outfits are the same number, then you have too many.
Place a few outfits back. Remember to wear some basic clothes several times. If you follow rules two and three, you will be able to mix and match and no one will be able to notice. One exception, however, never skimp out on underwear. Actually, always remember to include a few extra pairs of underwear. Have more underwear than the number of total vacation days.
5. If you plan on shopping, make sure to save some room in your luggage.
If you have to force your suitcase shut, there is way too much stuff. Plan out some space so that you can do some shopping on the side. If you plan to buy a lot of merchandise, you may even want to consider buying a separate large bag just for that purpose. I recommend a soft, duffel bag for this.
