Maybe you've never heard of the small Rhodes College or maybe you are thinking about attending. Either way you will love these fun facts about the school.
Rhodes College Fun Fact #1 - The school's campus is unique.
Rhodes College sits on a 100-acre wooded campus in an historic neighborhood only minutes away from downtown Memphis. It is in one the prettiest areas of the city, offering a natural environment that rivals the city's parks. The architecture of the buildings at Rhodes College are also unique to Memphis and much of the South. You will have to drive hours to find buildings with the same beauty or gothic architecture. Thirteen of the buildings are currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Rhodes College Fun Fact #2 - The student body is very diverse.
Rhodes College has the most diverse student body of any college in Memphis. You won't find a school full of locals, and in fact only 26% of students at Rhodes come from Tennessee. That means 76% of the student body is from outside of Tennessee. There are students from 46 states, the District of Columbia and 13 foreign countries. The entering class at Rhodes has 17% minority students. The student body is clearly a diverse group of people with different backgrounds.
Rhodes College Fun Fact # 3 - The school is a college that changes lives.
Rhodes College is a perennial top tier liberal arts college that makes it onto the lists of best schools published by U.S. News & World Report and Princeton Review. In 2008 it was featured on the cover of Princeton Review Complete Book of Colleges. The school is also featured in Loren Pope's Colleges That Change Lives.
Rhodes College Fun Fact #4 - The school is located in a great city.
Memphis, TN, is the 18th largest city in the United States with over 1.3 million people. It is a culturally rich city that offers great entertainment and recreational opportunities. Students even have the unwritten rule that they must visit the city's greatest attraction, Graceland, before they graduate. Memphis offers students access to internships, service, and research opportunities that rival the biggest cities in the world with much less competition.
