Jessica Rodriguez
If you are planning on sticking close to home this summer, consider a day trip to one of these 4 fabulous theme parks in the Eastern part of the United States.

1. Hersheypark

Hersheypark is located in Hershey, Pennsylvania. It is a theme park for those with a sweet tooth and a sense of adventure. You can get soaked traveling down the hydroflume Coal Cracker or ride the rail on the Dry Gulch Railroad. This theme park is complete with a hotel with a chocolate spa where moms can enjoy a chocolate fondue wrap. There are rides for big kids as well as smaller ones so no one gets left out.

2. Dutch Wonderland

Dutch Wonderland is located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Dutch Wonderland is a place where visitors can get a taste of the old-time charm. This park is perfect for families with younger kids. As with any good theme park there are several coasters and rides to keep the kids dizzy. There are also more specialized attractions. You can have the change to milk a cow or gets to see farm animals close up. This park is kept neat and clean. Price of admission doesn't include the pony rides.

3. Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Busch Gardens is located in Williamsburg, Virginia. Here you can get old world charm. The 350 acres allows visitors to explore old world England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, and Italy. There are many roller coasters like the Loch Ness. There are also live entertainment and food flavors from around the world. Sesame Street Forest is a special section for rides for the little kids in your family. Get a two park pass and explore the sister theme park, Water Country USA.

4. Sesame Place

Sesame Place is located in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Admittedly this theme park, like its television show is aimed towards a younger crowd. However if you have young kids and you live near Pennsylvania this place is a must see. Everything is devoted to the young kids. They can see their favorite Sesame Street characters come to life. There are rides and waterslides for the whole family to enjoy together. There are parades. Get in line early to see a live production of Elmo's World. Plan to have wet kids if you pass by the colorful water park inside of Sesame Place (also included in admission). Bring a change of clothes and a towel. Lockers and strollers are available. The restaurants are the least busy during the daily parade between 11 am and noon. The Sesame Beach is a nice place to relax and stick your feet in the sand.

I live on the West Coast but can't wait till we visit the east coast again! I've always wanted to visit Busch Gardens. I had no idea there was a theme park centered around Sesame Street, though. My little ones would flip! :)
