4 Good Reasons to Home School Your Child

Do You Know Anyone Home Schooling Their Children?

Jeff Schuman
Home schooling is not as uncommon as it used to be. In a recent study 26% of the people surveyed said they would consider home schooling their child. If you have thought about, or are thinking about, home schooling here are 4 good reasons you may want to do so.

1. First of all your kids go to school to learn. So your decision has to be based on academics. As public schools become more and more crowded it is apparent that your child will not get the individual attention you may want them to have. This is not the fault of public schools, but the system itself and lack of classrooms and teachers. You are able to focus on your kids 100% which can result in them learning quicker and advancing faster as well.

2. Next is social reasons. By home schooling your children you are able to keep them away from peer pressure. You can still have them interact with other kids at church, community activities, YMCA sports. Many home schooling parents get together and rotate teaching a class and having their kids meet other kids that way as well.

3. Parents of home-schooled children feel their presence felt by their kids. Family relationship is strengthened and ties are intact. A child's self esteem are more boosted because of the parents' full support. Based on the American League of Research Studies, kids that are home schooled are more loving and confident. You are able to be a part of their life all day as opposed to parents who do not see their kids until they get home from work. Plus it is a little hard for them to deny that they have homework when you ask if it is done yet.

4. Lastly when you home school your kids you are able to inject religion into their lives anyway that you want. Schools can not do this. Many parents feel that developing their kids spiritually is equally as important as academically. As a home school parent religion does not have to be a part of why you choose this type of schooling, but it has been found that religion is usually one of the 4 reasons parents want to home school.

You may have other reasons why you do or do not want to home school your children. It certainly will require a change on your part both as a teacher and a parent. These 4 reasons may be important enough for you to make the sacrifice of your own time and even loss of income.
