4 Great Charities that Are Really Worth Your Money

John Vann
There are thousands of quality charities in the United States. Some focus on researching diseases and cures, others work on providing homes and basic necessities, and others make sure that children have a safe place to go after school while their parents are working and can't afford a babysitter.

This article is nothing more than a brief overview of some of the more common charities. Most of these have local branches in nearly every city in the United States, and you are probably already aware of some, if not all of these charities. Who knows - you might already be contributing to one.

American Red Cross

The American Red Cross is one of the most famous charities, and amongst charitable organizations it ranks amongst the best. This charity does a great deal of work for local families who lose their home on account of a house fire, flood or other disaster. They also work nationally and worldwide with hurricane and disaster relief. For more information on the American Red Cross or to make a donation, you can visit their website at www.redcross.org.

Salvation Army

Another one of the most popular charities, the Salvation Army helps also works inside and outside of the United States, offering their charitable services wherever they can. For more information on the Salvation Army, or if you would like to make a donation, please visit www.salvationarmyusa.org.

Marine Toys For Tots Foundation

Every child loves toys, and none should go without - especially during the Holiday Season. The Marine Toys For Tots Foundation has been working since 1947 to provide toys to needy and less fortunate children all around the United States. Their toy drives, held at schools, businesses and other public places on an annual basis, have given a countless number of children something to look forward to on Christmas morning. Donations can be made at their web site, which can be found at www.toysfortots.org, or locally at one of their drop-sites during the Holiday season.

Goodwill Industires

Nearly everybody has heard of Goodwill - and many of us have had to rely upon them at one time or another to help with a difficult time in our life. Through the Goodwill stores set up all across America, individuals and families can purchase clothes, furniture and more at extremely discounted prices. They are also a great source for individuals looking for employment, too. For more information on Goodwill Industries or to make a donation, you can visit www.goodwill.org.
