Kate Jones
Podcasts are an excellent way to promote a business or service. With the growth in the popularity of Ipods and other portable listening devices podcasts are accessible to everyone you want to reach. Itunes and a large number of other sites provide downloadable content. Often for free. If you've been thinking of starting a podcast or would like to improve your existing podcast, these sites have lots of great options.

GCast

Podcasting is not quite as popular as blogging. The reason for this is that podcasting requires greater technical knowledge. GCast makes podcasting easier. Accounts on GCast are free. With a free account you can upload and download podcasts and store files. To simplify to process of making an audio recording GCast offers a podcasting via telephone option. While the basic service, including file storage, is free the telephone recording option costs $99 per year. Once you have recorded your podcast by telephone (toll free 800 number) or recorded your podcast with your own software and uploaded it, you have the option of including music from their affiliated site GarageBand.com. Once you've selected all the files you want to include in your podcast, GCast's playlist manager helps mix audio and organize files into a continuous MP3. GCast automatically generates a channel with an episode list for your podcast.

Free Music Archive

The site provides detailed information on how to upload.

Transcribr

Transcribr from Enablr may be the easiest web tool ever created. It's so easy in fact the site doesn't have a separate FAQ or help page. Transcribr translates audio files into text. For $1 per minute of audio, you receive a searchable text file that can be embedded in your blog or website. Audio is great but combining it with content that search engines can find is even better.
