Sure, you know you should never leave your pet in a car, even with the windows rolled down, and sure, you know to give your pet fresh water. But when you're out and about, how do you keep your cool cat from becoming a hot dog? Here are four ideas that will help you and your pet keep his cool.

1. Fan Club '" Your dog or cat will appreciate his very own fan. By increasing airflow around your pet, you will help keep him cooler and less prone to heat stroke. There are personal clip-on fans that you can buy at various stores, or even fans that hang on your pet's crate. Most of these fans have thermostats so you can control the coolness and even gel packs you can freeze, giving a cheap way to air condition the crate. Most run off of batteries, so be sure to carry an extra set so your pet can be cool this summer. Check out PROSELECT DOG CRATE CAGE KENNEL FAN COOL COOLING SYSTEM and Pet Crate Cooling Fan.

2. Cooling Collars '" To prevent your pup from getting too hot around the collar, try either a Kool Collar or a Polymer Crystal Collar to keep the cool. Polymer collars absorb water and thicken to a cool collar within a bandana; Kool collars have mini ice packs that you put in the freezer and slide into the collar. 3. Cooling Pet Mats'"Your pet will appreciate a cool mat to lie down on, whether in a crate or on the floor. Cooling pet mats are usually filled will cold water and impart their coolness through either evaporative cooling or direct thermal transference, thus cooling your pet. 4. Travel Water Bowls '" Bringing your pet's regular water bowl might be a bit of a hassle, so consider getting a travel water bowl that can fold up. Or if you're more concerned with keeping the water cool, consider an insulated pet bowl that will keep your pet's water refreshingly cold.
