4 Luxury Hotels with Room Views of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Sylvia Cochran

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is to turkey day what the tree is to Christmas: A must-see. If standing on the cold sidewalk for three to five hours is more than your cold feet and nose can handle, four hotels offer room views of the Thanksgiving Day Parade - for a price.

Trump International Hotel and Tower: $1,398 and up

The Trump Tower rises up where Columbus Circle, Central Park West, Broadway and Central Park South connect. Rooms bear the designing touches of Ivanka Trump, while the staff is exceedingly well-trained and formal to a fault. Only 176 rooms ensure that guests receive ample personalized attention. If ostentatious is to your liking, Trump Tower delivers with a Thanksgiving VIP package. If you commit to a two-night stay, you are rewarded with parade access in front of the hotel, as well as a 700-square-foot city view room starting at $1,398 per night.

Mandarin Oriental: $1,155 and up

The Mandarin Oriental is a stylish, luxurious venue situated at the meeting points of Columbus Circle and Central Park. Views open up to Central Park, Manhattan and the Hudson. A trendy restaurant, a lounge and a cocktail bar ensure chic libations. To attract Thanksgiving Day Parade visitors, the Mandarin Oriental offers two-day stay guests access to its Mandarin Ballroom - with stunning panoramic views of Central Park and Columbus Circle - and upgrades to rooms overlooking Central Park. The package starts at $1,155 and is available from Nov. 22 to 25.

The Michelangelo: $1,050 and up

If gold and the name "Trump" emblazoned on every conceivable surface is a bit too much to swallow, try the neoclassical boutique-hotel atmosphere of the Michelangelo. Venetia meets Americana in this beautifully designed marvel of marble and crystal. True to the locale, the hotel offers a Thanksgiving Parade View Package, which is valid for junior suites and studio rooms. A minimum three-night-day entitles the traveler to breakfasts and excellent in-room views of the parade route. Studios start at $1,050 per night; junior suites' rates begin at $1,150 a night.

The Wellington: $995 and up

Short on fake gold but big on historic value and ambiance, the Wellington features more rooms than other luxury hotels. Service is functional yet still attentive; Molyvos Mediterranean Restaurant ensures tasty vittles. Between November 20 and 28, guests may book the Thanksgiving Package. If you agree to a three-night-stay, you may enjoy an American breakfast at the Park Café for each morning of your stay, as well as the possibility of snagging a spot right in front of the hotel for viewing the Macy Thanksgiving Day Parade as it marches past the property. If you prefer to watch from the comfort of a hotel room, be sure to request a "guaranteed parade view room" when making your reservation. King rooms start at $995, while one-bedroom suites start at $1,695 with a four-person limit.
