4 Non-Blondes: Young Actors to Watch

Pam Gaulin
We're having a brunette moment. Did you notice? Maybe the tell was in the naming of Kim Kardashian as the most-searched celebrity on Bing in 2010. The move away from Paris Hilton and Britney Spears is delightfully free from bleach and roots. While Kim Kardashian is currently at the top of her game (whatever that game is, beyond trying to land a man and sell, sell, sell), there are four other non-blondes you need to keep your eye on.

4 Non-Blondes: Young Actors to Watch

Nina Konstantinova Dobreva: Elena on Vampire Diaries

While you were busy swooning over vampires and werewolves at the multiplex, this young actress has been heating up your TV screen. Nina Konstantinova Dobreva, 21, plays the seemingly low-key Elena, the heroine who always seems to get herself into huge mess, despite warnings from her loved ones. She's stubborn that way.

As "Vampire Diaries" has progressed, Nina Dobreva has dug deeper into her acting bag of tricks, to show us Katherine, the evil vampire. Elena is Katherine's doppelganger, which is not only a fun plot twist, it allows audiences to see Nina Dobreva's range.

Miranda Cosgrove

On the lighter side, we have another non-blonde: Miranda Cosgrove. While Miranda Cosgrove, 17, had roles in "School of Rock" and "Yours, Mine and Ours ," and lent her voice to " Despicable Me," the dark-haired pixie is best known for her goofy yet tech-savvy role on "iCarly." Miranda Cosgrove will go far if she stays the pass of fellow singing teen actors Hillary Duff and fellow Nickelodeon alum Amanda Bynes.

Victoria Justice

Victoria Justice, 17, is another double threat, with acting and singing talent. She stars in her own show Victorious , and you may remember her from the pre-Jamie Lynn Spears pregnancy days, on "Zoey 101."

Demi Lovato or Selena Gomez?

Selena Gomez, star of "Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie " and the TV show of the same name seems to be a more appropriate choice for young actors to watch as one on the rise. Selena Gomez, 18, landed a gig to announce the Grammy nominations, alongside Stevie Wonder. Like Cosgrove and Justice, Gomez is also a singer as well as an actress. The young Gomez who started on "Barney & Friends" has already come a long way.
