4 Reasons Regifting Should Be Guiltless - Get Rid of the Regifting Gloom

Jennifer W.
Regifting has been around longer than it's had a name. Why, oh why, do we still feel so guilty about the idea of giving someone a gift intended for us? Regiving a gift has never been easier, but the feelings of guilt and shame are often present. Recycling a gift has many benefits, for the giver as well as the receiver. So put that guilty gloom aside, as you discover the positive benefits the both of you receive from the simple act of regifting.

1. Regifting recycles an otherwise useless present. Landfills are full of gifts that were thrown out, because someone couldn't or wouldn't use them. Help nature out and regift an item. This is a green way of gift giving, in more than one way.

2. Regifting is an act of sharing. If you can't use a gift, why not give it to someone that can? Allow someone else to get the full benefits of something that is inappropriate for you. When you regift, the item is put to good use by someone other than yourself. Share what you're not willing to use.

3. When you regive an item, your space is more organized. Reduce the clutter and minimize the items at home that can't be used. This makes for a more organized home, cleaning out the closets or other spaces filled with new, unused items. Clean out and regive!

4. Regifting saves time and money. Your Christmas list is shortened by at least one gift. You save yourself time, from running around, looking for the perfect gift to give. It also saves green for you once again, this time in the form of money. This is especially beneficial if your Christmas budget, or any other gift budget, is tight. Saving money makes a huge difference when you simply don't have an extra $20.00 for another gift.

With our economy in the shape it's in, and many people out of work, regifting is sometimes not an option. Don't be so hard on yourself. Regifting is the "gift that keeps on giving." It's no fun if you associate negative feelings with regiving a gift. Forget feeling guilty about it. There are too many benefits, on both ends, to keep unused gifts to yourself. Do the Earth a favor and share what you have. Reduce the clutter in your home and save yourself some time and money. Don't dare send a useless gift to the landfill, when it would look fantastic in another person's possession!
