4 Reasons to Have Sex After the Age of 60

Bee Colyer
There are many reasons for people over the age of sixty to still enjoy and experience sex. If you are over sixty and can not find one reason to still be doing it then I have read this list of four good reasons.

It's good for your health. Thousands of articles and studies have been published to support the benefits of sex at any age. Along with burning calories sex can be used to improve your health.

Practicing deep breathing while increasing your heart rate can improve your circulation. WebMD reports that having sex once or twice a week is linked to having higher levels of the antibody immunoglobulin A which helps to fight off infections. There is also a study from the Journal of the American Medical Association, that reports men with twenty one or more ejaculations per month were linked to lower reports of prostate cancer. Other studies have also proven that regular sex can help reduce pain and stress levels.

Open Communication with Your Partner. Dr. Ruth says that, "Sex isn't the most important part of a marital relationship, but it is the glue that holds it together." If this is true, how much glue is holding your relationship together? The sex expert then goes on to say, "without the glue, the rest of the pieces of the relationship are much more prone to falling apart". If you are in a relationship where the sex is extinct as the conversation you are not alone.

There is often a correlation between couples that do not have sex and couples that do not communicate. If you are in this group of couples, talking about sex may be where to start.

These Should Be The Best Years of Your Life. According to research from the National Council on Aging half of Americans over the age of 65 describe the present as the best years of their lives. Why not actually let that be the theme to your life?

Being sixty now means something different than it did for your parents. Today most sixty year olds still have careers, are social, and haven't reached retirement age. While at the same time, their children are most likely out of the house!

You Still Want It. The National Coalition on Aging says that nearly fifty percent of Americans over sixty are still sexually active. Of those fifty percent who are still having sex nearly a third wish they were doing it more often.

Take the innitiative to get what you want. With wisdom comes not only emotional confidence, but sexual confidence as well.
