4 Steps Closer to an Amazing Fourth of July Party

Alex Parks
Are you about to throw your first 4th of July party? Are you worried that you're about to throw the worst 4th of July party in the history of mankind? If your answer is yes to either or both of these questions, you are in luck! Growing up in a small town where there are not many great fireworks displays, I have learned how to throw 4th of July parties that are consistently fun : ) Below are four tips that will help you to have an amazing party on the 4th, or on any day for that matter.

1. DO NOT INVITE THE WHOLE TOWN

I know that there are many people who think that when they throw a party on a national holiday they must invite everyone and their mothers. This is not, and should not be the case. If you plan on having festivities at your house, only invite people who you genuinely enjoy being with. Even though I somewhat understand why people feel a social obligation to invite the whole neighborhood to their house, inviting more people does not result in having more fun. On the contrary, the more people that you invite, the more time you will likely spend with people that you do not really want to be with, which in turn could make for quite a miserable 4th.

2. Keep the Food Simple

For the sake of your sanity, do not cook an eight course meal for all of your friends. I've found that 99 times out of 100, if people are enjoying the company they don't really mind what's for dinner. I highly recommend doing a barbeque. It's fast, simple, and very delicious. Also (and even though this probably goes without saying) make sure you have an abundance of beverages. After all, it is a national holiday celebrating our countries independence : )

3. Be Creative

As much fun as it is standing around with your friends and drinking for an entire day, I've found that the best parties revolve around a fun activity! As far as which activity is most fun, that's up to you! Be creative! Organize a game that you love playing, and express your excitement towards your friends! You can also get together with a couple close friends before the party and discuss possibilities for activities that you can set up prior to the start of the party Whatever you do, don't assume that the amount of alcohol you purchased will alone make for a fun party.

4. Fun With Firethings : )

After all, it is the 4th of July! Even if you are in a place where you can see fireworks, go buy some firecrackers and/or sparklers. By the time you hand these out everyone will most likely be in such a cheery mood that the idea of playing with firethings will be highly amusing : )

Well, that's all I have for now! If you are throwing a party I wish you the best of luck. If you happen to use any (or all) of these suggestions, I would love to hear all about your festivities : )
