4 Surefire Ways to Repair Your Cracked iPad Screen

How to Cope with a Cracked iPad Screen

Millionaire Hoy

A few days ago my wife and I realized one of our worst (tech) nightmares come true when my two-year-old son grabbed my wife's iPad 2 and dropped it on the floor when trying to make a run for it. The iPad fell flat on its screen and my heart dropped when I flipped it over and realized that the screen was cracked. After telling my wife what happened, I immediately started looking for solutions and was surprised to discover that a cracked iPad screen wasn't the end of the world. If you've recently cracked or damaged your iPad screen and it's still (otherwise) fully functional, following are several options to remedy the situation.

Schedule an Appointment with Apple's Genius Bar

One of the best things to do after your iPad's screen has been cracked is to contact the Apple's Genius Bar If anyone knows how to handle Apple products, it's the technician at Apple's Genius bar, that are specially trained to remedy problems. When it comes to a faulty or damaged Apple gadget or product, the folks at the Genius Bar will let you know what your best options are - which may be scheduling a repair or even a free iPad comp.

Pay Apple to Repair Your Cracked iPad Screen

It's rare that Apple will replace your cracked iPad and if you find that this isn't an option for you, paying to have your tablet's screen repaired by Apple is the most secure way to go about fixing the issue. Having Apple repair your screen will ensure that it's done with the correct tools and supplies and if anything goes wrong, it'll be backed by a warranty. Unfortunately, having this service done doesn't come cheaply and usually ranges around $300.

Have a Local Professional Repair Your Screen

If you're not looking to spend several hundred bucks on your iPad's screen repair, having a local tech professional repair your screen might seem like a good option. While looking for professionals to repair my wife's iPad screen, I've come across quotes as low as $150 on Craigslist. While local techs are a cheap alternative to paying Apple the big bucks, it is a bit risky and it's not backed with a warranty.

Buy a Screen Protector

Not everyone has a $150-$300 laying around to spend on repairing their iPad's screen - and even if they were willing to pay that much, they might not have it on hand at the moment. If you're a cheapskate, like me, or you're looking for a quick fix until you can get your iPad properly repaired, you might want to consider investing in an iPad screen protector. One of the biggest concerns you'll likely have after shattering your tablet is cutting your finger or doing worse damage to the already damaged tablet. A screen protector will help remedy these two issues and will allow your iPad to be used until you buy a new tablet or get it repaired. When purchasing a screen protector for an iPad with a cracked screen be sure to avoid screen protectors that are very sticky or those that require liquid spray for application.
