Get Rid of Your Vehicle
You shouldn't waste your time making payments on a vehicle since it will cost you nearly the same amount of rent in most cases. You will save yourself a ton of money by cutting out insurance premiums, fuel, and payments. Maintenance is another factor that you have to take into consideration regarding the expense of a vehicle. You can use public transportation such as bus, train, and subway. You can walk all around the city as well to places that the public transportation doesn't cover in certain areas of the city.
Get Rid of Unlimited Text and Extra Minutes on Cell Phone Plans
You can survive with a basic package on cell phones. Make sure to lower the bill by getting rid of the unlimited text messages and extra minutes on the cell phones. You only need a low plan to make phone calls and allow future employers a way to reach you. You can save ten dollars or more per month when you remove text plan off your cell phone plan. You may even want to remove Internet off the cell phone plan unless you use it to check for jobs when you are not near a library.
Disconnect Internet and Cable TV
Disconnect Internet and cable TV. The only exception to the rule where you should keep the Internet is when it enables you to make money online to cover the monthly cost plus pay a few of the bills. You may think that you are going to be bored out of your mind without cable TV and Internet, but you will survive. Grandparents survived without TV and Internet so you will survive without it as well. It won't hurt you to save even further money each month.
Get Rid of Satellite Radio
You don't need to pay the monthly payments to listen to satellite radio. You can use a regular old radio to listen to the current stations in the local area. You can even call the radio stations in your area to request that they play a certain song. You need to get rid of the satellite radio expense no matter how cheap that you may think it is. Take the amount per month and times it by twelve to see how much money that you can find to pay off something else. You don't have to sell boombox equipment, but just keep it in storage to hook up later when you can afford to listen to satellite radio again.
