4 Things to Expect for NFL Week 1 2010

Roy A. Barnes
My 4 things to expect for NFL week 1 2010 include some very "off the beaten path" stats. The 2010 NFL week 1 schedule will commence in New Orleans on Thursday, September 9, with the Vikings vs. Saints match up. Expect this notable sports period to add more memories and records that will be talked about for years to come.

4 Things to Expect for NFL Week 1 2010 Tidbit 1: The Following 3 Final Scores

According to Pro-Football-Reference.com, the most popular final score of an NFL football game is 20-17, which has happened 231 times (as of the end of the 2009 season, so this stat is subject to change). The next two most occurring final scores are the following: 17-14 (180 times), and 27-24 (164 times). So don't be surprised if you see at least one or two games ending with 20-17, 17-14, and/or 27-24.

4 Things to Expect for NFL Week 1 2010 Tidbit 2: A New Stadium Will Host Two Home Openers a Day Apart

So, were the scheduling powers-that-be trying to be fair to both the New York Jets and New York Giants in letting both teams have their home openers the same opening weekend, according to ESPN.com? Of course, one gets to go first, which will be the New York Giants, who get to host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, September 12 at New Meadowlands Stadium. The next evening, the New York Jets will host the Baltimore Ravens.

4 Things to Expect for NFL Week 1 2010 Tidbit 3: A Dallas Cowboys Win

By statistical probability, expect the Dallas Cowboys to be 1-0 after the first week of the regular season. The team has the best winning percentage for season openers (69 per cent), with a record of 34-15-1, according to NFL Pigskin Potpourri. This year, "America's Team" will be on the road during NFL Week 1 2010 against the Washington Redskins Sunday night.

4 Things to Expect for NFL Week 1 2010 Tidbit 4: The Stands to be Filled with More Throwbacks

Seeing a hunk of fake cheese on the noggins of Green Bay Packers fans is one thing as the cameras scan the stands for NFL Week 1 2010 and beyond, but this season, expect to see the team's fans wearing brown helmets and also non-descript navy blue jerseys with yellow lettering and numbers, parts of the throwback uniform going back to their first championship in 1929. The items can be bought at the Packers Pro Shop for a pretty penny. According to ESPN.com Page 2, the Eagles and Bears will also be doing the "throwback" this year, too. Each team can wear their "Third Jerseys" twice in a regular season.

Well I like the Cowboys but don't really gangho when it comes to football season, so this is probably a good review but doesn't interest me. LOL
