4 Things to Know from the Apple's World Wide Developer's Convention (WWDC) 2010

New iPhone 4 and Safari 5! Apple Continues to Release New and Exciting Things

J G Hodnette
The WWDC is conference held every year in California by Apple. The idea is to reveal new technologies so that developers will be able to choose what they want to begin working on. About 5000 developers show up to this conference, but the big deal for everyday people is the new devices that Apple reveals. Last year, the surprises were the IPhone OS and the new Macbook pro. What was it this year?

IPhone 4

The first and most exciting new device is the latest in the line of iPhones. This new device is able to get and view HD videos, has a vastly improved camera, and will have a back camera with LED flash as well as a front facing camera, presumably for taking shots of yourself. The design is sleek and attractive, making it a definite rival in the future phone market.

Facetime

Another big announcement was the invention of Facetime, a new software that allows for video calling using the new IPhone, With its new front facing camera, you can call people and have them actually see your face. This new software sounds pretty cool, but it only works with Wi-fi currently and it only works from one IPhone 4 to another.

IMovie for IPhone

For those of us into making home movies, iMovie is a familiar name. Well now that software is coming to the new iPhone so that you can use the new powerful camera to shoot movies wherever you are. Movie shooting capabilities have been on phones for a while now, but this software also allows you to edit your movies right on your IPhone. Pretty Cool, eh?

Safari 5

The newest version of their operating system, Safari 5 is supposed to have made some major leaps forward as far as speed from its predecessors. Apple promises that this is the sleekest and best browser yet. When apple says something like that, it normally means that it is worth at least a try.

These are just a few of the big announcements that Apple made during this conference. As always, only time will show how these new devices and softwares compare, but with Apple it is pretty safe to say that they will do well.
