1. If it sounds too good to be true, it is - You are not going to get paid a ridiculous amount of money for little to no work. It just doesn't happen. Virtually all of the legitimate work at home programs actually require you to put some effort into the activities they are asking you to do.
2. If they ask you to pay up front, don't! - This is a tried and true scam. If they want you to pay up front and then show you their plan or their "secret to success" please don't! You will never hear from them again after they have your money. The only way you get paid in this program is if you actually get people to sign up under you (aka. you have to scam them!)
3. Contact the administrator of the company right after you join - I do this regularly. I do not want to spend a lot of time doing a program if there is no one on the other side running it. But if you contact them (assuming they even give contact info!) and they contact you back promptly, then that is a very good sign of a legitimate program.
4. Google (or any other search engine) is your friend - Before you sign up for anything, check them out. Do a search for the name of the program followed by "scam". This will tell you if others out there have been scammed by this program or if it seems to be legitimate.
So remember, just like your dad, or maybe your grandfather used to say, "There is no such thing as a free lunch" usually holds true in the work at home business as well. But follow these simple steps before you go giving out your info and signing up, and you should be on your way to actually earning some extra money online.
