4 Tips for a Cleaner, Healthier Home

Quick Housekeeping Chores for Dialy Maintenance

Most of us have neither the time nor the inclination to thoroughly clean our homes every single day. With work and other commitments taking up our time and family or roommates leaving messes behind sometimes we're lucky just to keep the clutter at bay. But a clean home is a healthy home, so try these quick, easy tips for daily household maintenance.

In the kitchen

Many families spend more time in the kitchen than any other room of the house. It is where meals are served, kids do homework, and couples catch up over coffee. It is also a room where germs like to move in. With uncooked meats being prepared, leftover scraps of food being thrown away, and who knows what being dropped on the floor, ample food sources erupt upon which germs can thrive. For a cleaner, healthier kitchen wipe down counter tops, sinks, handles, trash cans and backsplashes with disinfectant wipes every morning and evening. It only takes a minute and your immune system with thank you.

In the Bathroom

The bathroom is another haven for unwanted microbes. The humid environment encourages molds and bacteria to grow creating a musty, potentially hazardous atmosphere. The first step to a healthier bathroom is ventilation; be sure to turn on the exhaust fan or open a window after every steamy shower. Next, keep a can of Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner on hand. This foaming, nearly all-purpose product disinfects and leaves behind a nice shine. Since it only requires one step-spray it on then wipe it off-you can use it every morning on you sink, shower and toilet before you head out the door.

In the living room

Dust harbors dust mites and other allergens that can be irritating to your family and your guests. Why wait until a film of gray particles is coating every surface? By keeping disposable dust clothes, like Swiffer's dry cloths, on hand you can simply wipe down surfaces as you walk through your home. This is especially useful in rooms that house electronics, as they are quite literally dust magnets.

In the bedroom

The bedroom is quite possibly the most difficult room to clean quickly. Carpets need to be vacuumed and sheets need to be changed, neither of which is going to happen daily. To keep the bedroom at least smelling fresh try opening a window for ventilation while you get ready in the morning. Another good idea is to spritz a few squirts of Febreze on the bed sheets before you straighten them up. Oh and don't forget to put dirty clothes in the hamper where they belong!

So there you have it. By taking maybe twenty minutes out of your day to do each of the preceding you will find your home to be cleaner, healthier, and fresher smelling in not time at all.
