Insurance companies tend to charge women lower rates than male drivers.
A few decades ago, this was so blatant that a daughter could be added to the family insurance policy without a rate change. Sons in the same family would add several dollars to the family insurance budget for the same coverage. So, for years, insurance companies have used gender as a factor when it comes to selling car insurance policies.
The good news is that you are already assured a better rate just because it is a female that is being insured.
The important thing at this point is to keep good driving habits and a clean driving record. In spite of the gender benefit, a woman's driving record is an important factor in finding cheap insurance for a female student. Speeding tickets and other moving violations need to be avoided. By the same token, careful driving that reduces the chances of an accident will keep those insurance rates down.
Good students always get favorable consideration.
Car insurers like good students. Statistically, good students tend to be better drivers. Those A's and B's on the grade card can add up to big savings with the car insurance company. Women who are students should work extra hard to maintain a good grade point average to help stretch their insurance dollars.
Once you have maintained good grades and a clean driving record, it is time to shop for cheaper insurance rates.
The shopping process for lower cost car insurance is the same regardless of the qualifications of the individual. So the idea is to get enough insurance quotes to feel that you have maximized your chances of finding the best rates available at the time that you are shopping. You need to be sure to point out the driving record and good grades of a female student so that it makes it into the mix when getting insurance quotes from at least four or five companies. After that, just select the best rate and make the purchase.
