4 Tips for Finding a Great Amazon Kindle Repair Shop

One of the best things about owning an eBook reader like the Amazon Kindle is that it's very well built, and other than the occasional recharge, it isn't very difficult to keep the Kindle working.

However, there are some situations in which you may need to get your Kindle repaired, and if the eBook reader is out of warranty or if you broke it in a way that might have put it out of warranty, you'll have to find a good repair shop to fix the device or simply have it replaced.

When you need repair on an Amazon Kindle, here are a few tips to keep in mind.

Find An Established Company. As the Kindle is a fairly new device, you wouldn't expect a Kindle repair company to have dozens of years of experience. Even so, the top companies in the field will be able to show you testimonials from customers, various common issues that can be fixed, and credentials that can make it easier to make your decision. Look for a company that has repaired electronics for some time. Companies that provide other services like iPod and iPhone repair are usually a good place to start.

Know What's Wrong. A broken Amazon Kindle will usually have an obvious symptom, so a bit of research can help you to know what's wrong with the device and maybe what you could do to fix it. If your Kindle won't turn on, search for those symptoms, and if there's something obviously wrong with it like a broken power adapter, research to find out what a Kindle repair should cost in those circumstances.

Get A Price Quote. Before you decide to send your Kindle anywhere, you should know what you're going to pay. Find out by calling ahead, explaining the problem, and asking what repairs typically run. It's best to call a few Kindle repair shops to get an accurate assessment of your possible costs.

Ship The Kindle Appropriately. A Kindle doesn't really have moving parts, so it can take quite a beating while it's being shipped without major issues. Still, packing it in 3-5 inches of bubble wrap will help you to keep the screen in a good condition. Tape both sides of the bubble wrap to stop the Kindle from falling out mid-transit.
