4 Tips to Increase Your Page Views on Associated Content

g christine
If you want to increase your page views on Associated Content, it's going to take work and time.

Yes, boring, but it's true.

There isn't a magic bullet that will somehow take the place of actual hard work. Even the people who have the "knack" for writing articles that pull in views don't do it without a ton of research and just plain perseverance. I doubt Crystal Ray and Saul Relative sit around drinking Mai Tais at the beach, they're out there busting their butts thinking of the next topic or title to write about, I'm sure. I doubt either of them even LIKE Mai Tais, but of course I could be wrong : )

Anyway, here are a few tips for bringing in page views, from my experience, a bit of research, and just plain common sense.

Quantity

You probably expected my to spout about "quality content", but in reality, quality matters very little. It matters to some people, it might matter to you, or real writers out there, but the cold hard truth is that excellent quality writing doesn't usually bring in page views. I know this because superb writing doesn't lend itself well to bringing in search engine traffic. Keywords do. Precise, easy to read and find writing brings in page views.

So therefore, write good, but not great. Write for the web, and write A LOT.

Topics

Choose your topics well if you want to pull in page views. This article won't bring in a lot of views, because there's only a small audience for the topic. I am not an expert on what is popular, but it is an obvious fact that if you want readers, you have to write what a large number of people want to read. Do your research. Write about Tiger Woods, or whoever (or whatever) is the flavor of the week.

Experience

Learn from experience what works and what doesn't. Don't be lazy like me, and just write whatever comes to mind at the moment. Look at what articles are bringing in the views, and write more. Associated Content isn't great for providing information on where your traffic is coming from and whatnot, so you will kind of need to play it by ear here.

Write

Yeah, you just need to write a lot, like I said before. Don't sit on your arse, just do it. Most people don't make money online because they are lazy, this is a simple, self-explanatory observation I've come to conclude over the years. People want it now, and they want it easy. Well, darling, it's not. Stop whining and write.

Quality works with books, but not so much online. Don't get me wrong, if you have quality articles someone will subscribe and keep in touch, because they like you that much, but never underestimate the importance of light fare and one page articles either. Not everyone has the attention span, or is so deep, to appreciate strong articles. You have to deliver something for everyone.

Quantity is huge. I have over 1,000 articles on this site. I did get frustrated and removed some non performing articles, but you just never know. I still get comments from articles I posted back in 2005. If you have an article out there, someone will find it, eventually.

It is true that certain topics bring in more views. I have to be honest though. I would rather write a real quality piece then slap something together that might be hot for the day. I would rather be proud about what I am writing about then see some extra dollars in my bank account. :)

I agree, certain topics generate a lot more traffic than others. The one I published this week on Robert Pattinson grossed 10 times more page views than my previous 10 articles put together. The proof is I suppose when I look at your page views which are at least 3 times more than mine, yet you have less than half the articles. I frequently write what I feel like writing, rather than what will generate traffic, but my biggest enemy is time - lack of it, and having to work a full time job. One day I hope to be able to live off my earnings from writing.

I simply can't write about the "Hot Topic". I just can't, especially when celebrities are concerned. I hate reading that crap and I sure hate writing it. I'd rather write what I love and be happy doing it. Thanks for the tips!

I find that the more concentrated my articles are, the more page views they get. Although, I do think the whole quality content thing is still up to the reader to decide.
