4 Types of Computers Sold Today

For the last decade when you wanted to by a computer you had a decision between a laptop or a desktop computer. But now, there two others that have entered the playing field which are netbooks and nettops. These two new types of computers are very energy efficient and both use the atom processor. They are also very small in comparison to there counterparts. Nettops are small desktops and netbooks are small laptops. Normally, netbooks do not have screens bigger then 10 inches. Netbooks have been selling very fast while nettops have not are are quite rare to find. These computers were designed to create a cheap, more portable computer.

Some people could not afford a full featured computer and just needed a computer to get on the Internet. Laptops were designed to be able to move the computer without any hassles. We still need desktops because there are still things you can only do on a desktop computer. Laptops were traditionally less powerful then desktops and more expensive. They also used different processors because laptops can not handle as much heat as desktops. Laptops use Centrio processors for this reason. But, since the introduction of Intel's icore 7 processor laptops are about as powerful as desktop computers. This is the first time which the same processor is in the laptop and in the desktop and that happened because this processor does not produce a lot of heat.

Laptops can have screens as small as 12 inches or as much as 20+ inches. Laptops enjoy the benefit of being light and cordless while desktops enjoy the benefit of being able to handle more heat. Desktops usually have a separate monitor and sometimes people use there TV as the computer monitor. There are some desktops that have a built in screen a.k.a all in one. Mac is famous for most of its computers having the monitor and the computer in one box. The market may grow again with more interesting technologies. The mobile market have been trying to jam a full powered computer in a device that you can fit your hand. Even through such devices already exist such as PDA, several companies have been trying to reinvent the wheel and create a cell phone, PDA and music player device that may someday create a new type of computer.
