4 Ways to Maximize Your Muscles

When You Go to the Gym, Get the Workout You Deserve

Going to the gym is hard work and a lot of people truly don't enjoy it and would rather be doing something else, anything else. However, it remains a necessary evil for some to stay healthier, be more fit, and look better. When people go to the gym they have tendencies to not push themselves as hard as they can go so they don't feel that sense of "failure" and "rejection" if you will from not being able to accomplish an exercise. Honestly though, when a person goes to the gym their goals are usually to maximize the most muscles and build strength. There are some key tricks in doing so and these tips will help you maximize the size and strength of your muscles.

1. Use a bench when you squat. The squat is probably the most effective and best muscle building exercise for everyone. It works a plethora of muscles and helps you with your balance, if you do it right. However, most people do not. Before you squat, bring over a dumbbell bench and place it behind you and squat down. The sitting position you end up in is where you want to be at the lowest point of your squat. Check your heels as well, they need to be flat on the ground for optimum performance and balance.

2. Sit ups over crunches. I see people all the time at gyms doing crunch after crunch, week after week and complaining about not seeing any result. This is because a crunch only involves about a 30 degree angle of motion. If you want the most out of your abs, go back to the old days of full sit ups. They make your abs work harder and you will see a better result in time.

3. When you exercise, stand up. When a lot of people work out they tend to sit on benches while they do certain exercises or sit down on the calf machine instead of choosing to go for the exercises that you have to stand up to do. However, in doing those exercises sitting down you're just working the muscles you're targeting and not your core. If you do those exercises standing up your core will get a better workout and it will impact your overall strength and fitness.

4. Don't wait between workouts. If you really have to use a certain machine or certain equipment and it's already being used by somebody else don't walk around the gym and wait, get more exercising in. If you're waiting for a lower body workout, do a small upper body one to keep your adrenaline going, and vice versa.
