4 Ways to Obtain Your Dream Job

Michelle Knudson
There is no reason to stay in a job that you hate. The job will cause you sadness and resentment in the long run if you decide to stay. You have to think of a job like a relationship. Would you stay in a miserable relationship? Most people walk out the door and never look back. Here are four ways to obtain your dream job.

Educate Yourself

It is never too late to go back to college. You can acquire more skills so people see you as a professional in the field. You can also work for a place that will give you experience while you improve your skills.

Don't Accept Less Pay Than What You Are Worth

Refuse to accept low pay. Any company that hires you at a low salary will not be inspired to pay you big bucks later on. They count on newbies accepting a low salary. Companies that know the value of each employee will properly compensate you in the salary price offer. Don't ever accept less than what you are worth otherwise people will not have any desire to pay you more.

Demonstrate You Can Do It

You can demonstrate to human resources that you know what you are talking about by a portfolio. The portfolio can be long and explain in detail all of the things that you've accomplished over the years. Your resume and cover letter can sell yourself for the job. The way that you present what you have knowledge about is the most important.

Never Give Up

Most people give up on the idea of their dream job. Some think that a dream job is only something that people never really get in life. People who are really determined with get the dream job due to hard work and patience. One company may tell you no for several years while another company may say yes to you at the front door. Any company that decides to reject you does not know what they lost. There are people out there that accomplish so much in a company that finally give them a yes that made the other prior companies look like a fool.

You can always stand face to face with the competition several years later. You can show them that you should have been hired by them years earlier but the company that hired you made the best decision in the world. The previous company will have regrets when you are the star of the other competitor.
