4 Winter Beauty Must-Haves

Becky Fuentes
When winter sets in, it brings with it colder, dryer weather and the need to switch up our beauty routine a bit to keep our skin from losing its glow. Here are some Winter beauty must-haves that will keep you looking your best all season long.

Chapstick or Lip Balm

Dry lips are far from attractive and tend to get even worse in the cold, winter months. This is why I always make sure to have my trusty chapstick close by. Find a chapstick or lip balm that works for you (I'm partial to the original Cherry Chapstick) and then stock up on your favorite brand. Since I'm always losing my chapstick, I've started to buy them in the multi-packs and I stash them everywhere I think I may need my chapstick - at my work desk, in my purse, in the car, by my bedside, etc. The right chapstick or lip balm will keep your lips feeling soft and smooth when you most need it.

Moisturizer

Dry skin is also something that comes with winter and I find that my regular moisturizer just doesn't do the trick anymore. So I switch to a heavier moisturizer, like cocoa butter, that leaves my skin feeling wonderful all day long. When applying, concentrate especially on areas that need a little extra care - like your feet, elbows and knees. I also carry around a small tube of hand cream so that I can reapply to my hands throughout the day. Hand washing and freezing temperatures can take its toll on your hands, so you'll want to be prepared to keep your skin from flaking up.

Bronzer or Blush

As we tend to lose more and more sun during the winter months, you may find the tan that you worked so hard on during the summer start to fade away. To keep from looking as pale as a ghost, try using a slightly brighter blush on your cheeks to give your face some added color. If you don't like to use blush, consider using a soft bronzer instead to give your face a subtle glow.

Glitter Eyeshadow

Winter is the perfect time to add a little sparkle to your eyes by experimenting with a soft, glitter eyeshadow. To keep from looking like a Vegas showgirl, stick to soft, neutral colors with just a touch of sparkle. If you don't think you can pull off glitter in your eye shadow, try using an eyeliner that has a bit of glitter in it instead to draw some attention to your eyes.
