40-Year-Old Virgin Scene Stealer Shelly Malil Arrested for Attempted Murder

In the hit comedy The 40-Year-Old Virgin there were many scene stealers behind Steve Carell, one of which was little known Shelley Malil. Playing an extremely foul mouthed employee of Carell's electronics store, Shelley Malil earned a lot of laughs in The 40-Year-Old Virgin for his dirty talk. However, Shelly Malil may now be best known for something a lot more serious, and dirty in a even fouler way -- attempted murder. After Shelly Malil's ex-girlfriend was stabbed to near death Sunday night, Shelly Malil became a suspect and was officially charged and arrested for suspicion of the attempted murder last night.

The ordeal began Sunday night in San Marcos, when police received reports of screaming for help and some broken glass. Deputies went to the source of the reports 15 miles east of San Marcos. There, they found a woman who had various cut on her fate and at least 20 stabbing wounds.

There was no suspect near the scene of the crime, but it was apparent that the perpetrator broke in. The woman's two children were inside the house during the attack.

A statement released by police confirms that this woman and Shelly Malil had a relationship, which had ended recently. By Monday, Shelly Malil was labeled as a suspect in the crime.

As a result, Malil's friends and family were able to convince Malil to turn himself in for questioning. Therefore, Malil got on a train and headed to Oceanside near San Diego, where he would be officially arrested and charged with attempted murder, mayhem and burglary. Malil also met with his attorney afterwards, who is as of yet unidentified.

The victim was in critical condition when she was brought into the hospital Monday morning, but she managed to stay alive. However, as of early Tuesday, it is not known whether her condition has changed or worsened.

Aside from his role in 40-Year-Old Virgin, the 43-year-old Malil has also been a guest star on several TV shows like NYPD Blue and Scrubs. Malil also earned attention for appearing in Budweiser's "What Are You Doing?" commercial as part of their "Wassup?!" franchise of ads years ago.
