45 Days in County Jail

Day 7-May 3, 2007

Last night was freezing in my room and with only a small blanket, that doesn't cover me from head to toe, I was very cold. This morning I almost didn't get up for breakfast but decided I'd better or I'd be too hungry at lunch. Breakfast was oatmeal, bread, syrup, milk and Kool-aid. People here are so much grumpier in the mornings. I know jail sucks but why be mad at the people there. "K" moans and groans all day everyday about how she's not a criminal and she didn't do anything wrong and she's doesn't belong here. But she committed embezzlement, a crime, just like everyone else. And then she skipped bail, left the state and didn't show up to court. She things she is too good for jail but is more like the women here than she will admit. We got back out of our rooms around 9 am and again had to listen to "K" complain. Lunch today was hamburgers, beans, coleslaw, angel food cake, and Kool-aid. I am supposed to go to court on Monday although court dates seem to be more suggested then required when you are in jail. We got let back out at 4 pm and dinner was hamburger helper, bread, carrots, apple cobbler, and Kool-aid. Some girls got 30 days of lockback because they got caught with heroine in their cells. My roommate decided that tonight would be a good night for her to talk and never shut up. I've tried ignoring her, telling her to shut up and pretending to be asleep but she just won't stop. We were let out around 10 pm but had to be back in at 10:45 pm. I let the officer know that my roommate smells and hadn't bathed since she arrived. They made her shower but it didn't seem to help. My body aches and the night will be very long before the damn breaks on...day 8.
