45 Days in County Jail

Epilogue

Epilogue

It has now been nearly a month since I was released from county jail. The time has passed by quickly and I keep wishing it would slow down.

The day I was released I went to probation and tried to pick up my paperwork for transfer to NY. It was not ready and they told me that I could take weeks before my probation was transferred. I couldn't leave the state without getting my paperwork or that could result in a new violation. NY couldn't accept me without the paperwork and NC said that they transferred the paperwork. I was once again stuck and left at the mercy of the system.

I spent three days in trapped in NC and spent hundreds of dollars on hotel rooms and phone bills. I called every person I could in NC including the chief probation supervisor for that county. I then spent time on the phone with Raleigh and the probation department in the capital. I called NY and spoke with the probation department in the county I would be living in. And I called Albany and spoke with the probation department there. Finally after three days I got the approval to leave.

Since coming home I am staying with my parents for now. I have found three jobs and am working a lot! I have sent in my application for the community college so that I can go back to school. I have regained my relationships with friends and family that I let lapse over the years. I have had my children with me for three weeks. They are going to their Dad's for a week and then they will be back to stay until the end of July.

I have truly learned my lesson because of all of this. I have started making amends to the people that I hurt because of my lies. I am ready to change my life for the better and hope that through my example I can show others that you can change after a hugs mistake.

I have been working with the jail in the county I live in to provide bibles and other religious support for the detainees. I have also been working with my church to start a young adults support group. A group that will help men and women my age to find better solutions to problems than lying, cheating and stealing.
